History

Tlingit Indian name Ketlgakhya meaning doghowl place. Aurel and Arthur Krause (1883, map) reported the name of this and Battery Point as Ketlrachta. Shown as Kelgaya in 1923 on International Boundary Commission (IBC) Sheet 9 (1951 atlas).
