Named by members of the Glacier Bay Expedition of 1941 (Field, 1947, map) for James Mann Wordie, a British glacier geologist and polar explorer, who visited Muir Glacier in 1913. He was a Antarctic Expedition, 1914-17, and on several expeditions to Greenland. (AK-T1)
