HistoryNamed by members of the Glacier Bay Expedition of 1941 for Otto Julius Klotz, 1852-1923, of the Dominion of Canada Survey. Klotz wrote an article about the application of photo-topographic methods in the surveying of the Baird Glacier in 1895, as well as other scientific articles about Alaskan glaciers in 1899 and 1907. He was employed by the Canadian government as topographic surveyor and explorer, from 1872 to 1884. In 1885, he became Dominion Astronomer.
