Russian descriptive name meaning "mouth (of a river)" given by SUB-@LT. Mikhail Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), in 1839 or 1840 and published by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. in 1849 on Chart 1425. The Russian-American Compaby applied this name in 1849 to Malina Point, 4 mi.es SW of this point.
