HistoryNamed "Poluostrov Sukhago Yelnika," meaning "dry spruce peninsula," in 1839 or 1840 by Sub. Lieutenant Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN); published in 1949 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1425 which shows a sand bar connecting this island to the north coast of Kodiak Island.
