HistoryTranslation of the name "M(ys) Malinovoy" given by Sub-Lt. Mikhail Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), in 1839 or 1840 and published by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. in 1849 on Chart 1425. Murashev applied this name to the present location of Malina Point, 2 miles to the southeast. The Russian American Company reapplied the name to its present location in 1849. This feature was called Strawberry Point" by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1900.
