Aleut name reported by Davidson, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1869. Baker (1906, p. 649) wrote, "a name derived from Udakta (now Dutch) harbor, the change from Udakta to Ulakta being apparently accidental."
