Historyobserved by Josph Whidbey, July 13, 1794, and named by Captain Vancouver (1789, v. 3, p. 245), RN, for Couverden, England, the home of his ancestors. map 8), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), transliterated the English anme as "M(ys) Kouverden."
