Located at the north end of Chichagof Island, between Chatham Strait and Cross Sound, 64 km (40 mi) west of Juneau, Alexander Archipelago, St. Elias Mtountains. 50 miles long.

History

This name is a translation of the Russian name "Prol(iv) Ledyanoy" Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 8), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). US@C&GS published the translation in 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 118). (AK-T1)
