History

Named in 1881 by the U.S. Navy for the U.S.S. Wachusett, commanded by Commander Henry Glass, U.S. Navy (USN), used in surveying the cove that year. The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1883 Alaska Coast Pilot (p. 180).
