HistoryDescriptive name given by fur traders prior to 1869 and published in 1869 by U. S. Navy on Hydrographic Chart 225. It is "* * * said to be fair anchorage in the summer but bad in blowy weather" (U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), 1883, p. 181).
