extends NW along Alaska-Canada boundary from Cross Sound, Icy Strait, and Lynn Canal on SE to Bering Glacier, Tana Glacier, Tana River, Chitistone River, and White River on NW; St. Elias Mts.

History
In 1870, Dall (p. 286) wrote: "The Coast or St. Elias Range contains the highest peaks and most of the volcanoes. along the whole northwest coast from California to the peninsula of Aliaska.: name "St. Elias Alps" to the mountains between the Copper River and Mount Fairweather. application of the name to the above described mountains.
