HistoryNamed by L. E. Nielsen, who made what was reported as the first ascent of the mountain June22, 1959, for Lieutenant R. M. Brookfield who was with F.C. Schrader (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)) on a reconnaissance trip up the Valdez Glacier in 1898. Brookfield camped a few miles east of the mountain.
