In the Chugach Mountains, 12 mi W of the Copper River and 35 mi E of Valdez, Chugach Mts.

History

Named for Brigadier General William Mitchell (1879-1936), who as a lieutenant, was instrumental in constructing a telegraph line from Eagle to Valdez from 1901 to 1902.
