History of Traders Island

The largest of this group of islands was called "Traitor Island" by Commander R. W. Meade, U.S. Navy (USN), in 1869; this name was published on Hydrographic Chart 225. U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) erroneously published the name as "Traders" for both the a3 on Traders Head, on E shore of Bechevin Bay, Aleutian Range
