HistoryNamed by Lieutenant Woronkofski in 1837; published as "O(strov) Sv(yatoy) Iakova," or "St. Jacob Island," on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1379 (1847). "Jacob Island" was shown in 1888 on U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) Chart 806.
