SW part of Saint Lawrence Island, SE of the valley of the Kookooliktook River, 12 mi. NE of Southwest Cape and 28 mi. SE of Gambell.
HistoryEskimo name reported in 1949 by Major H. B. Allen, U.S. Air Force (USAF). Orth was informed at Gambell and Savoonga in 1965 that the name "Putgut" applies only to the 200 ft. cliff, or ridge, that extends about 50 mi. from Powooiliak Point to Cape Kitnik.
