Formed by bluffs 200 feet in elevation rising to the summit of Taphook Mountain, on the northwest coast of Saint Lawrence Island, less than a mile northwest of Apatiki Camp, 8 miles southeast of Naskok Camp and 19 miles southeast of Gambell.
HistoryEskimo name probably from taphak meaning "barrier bar." Reported in 1932 by OW Geist, University of Alaska.
