HistoryNamed Hooniah Point by E. F. dickins, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1901 for the village of Hooniah, now spelled Hoonah. The name was published by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1901 Coast Pilot (p.208). Originally named Entrance Point by Lieutenant F. M. Symonds, U.S. Navy (USN), in 1880 and published by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1883 Coast Pilot (p.191). Originally named Entrance Point.
