HistoryName by Captain George Vancouver, Royal Navy (RN), after its discovery by Lieutenant Joseph Whidbey on August 13, 1794, for John Hobart, the Second Earl of Buckingham, England (Wagner, 1937, p. 392). This name was published in 1848 as Mys Khobart, that is Khobart Cape, by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. on Chart 1396.
