Historythis is a translation by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) about 1882 of the name "Siuchiya Guba," given in 1833 by the Russian navigator Ensign Vasiliev. feature was called "Puerto de los Remedios," meaning "Port of the Remedy," by Francisco Antonio Maurelle and Don Juan de la Bodega y Quadra, who named it for Nuestra Senora de los Remedios (Wagner, 1937, p. 490).
