HistoryEnsign W. L. Howard stopped at this village from May 23 to 30, 1886, on his way from Ft. Cosmos to Point Barrow. consisted of 30 tents and 150 Eskimos (Stoney, 1900, p. 71-72). The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Expedition of 1924 could find no signs of this settlement (Smith and Mertie, 1930, p. 110).
