HistoryName used by prospectors and reported in 1905 by Witherspoon. Mertie (1930, p. 7) reports some usage of Jewett Creek in 1925, which is probably derived from F. L. Jewett, one of the operators of a nearby coal mine in 1902 (Collier, 1903, p. 29).
