History

Local name reported in 1937 by J. B. Mertie, Jr., U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). This name may refer to the same feature shown on recent maps as "Nation Reef." Although the latter name seems to be applied to an island, the generic "Reef" implies that the application should be narrower.
