HistoryNamed in 1960 by E. L. Bartlett, Senator from Alaska and F. A. Seaton, Secretary of the Interior for James Wickersham (1857-1939), Attorney, District Judge, and Territorial Delegate to Congrass from Alaska. He was the leader of the first and unsuccessful attempt to climb Mount McKinley (now Denali) in 1903.
