History of Anaktuvuk Pass

Named by W. J. Peters, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1901. He wrote, "being satisfied that the mountains could be crossed through this pass, which I called Anaktuvuk, from the northward-flowing river that it leads to * * *" (Schrader, 1904, p. 2).
