About

on the Chukchi Sea coast, at mouth of Beaded Creek, 2 mi. NE of Barrow, Arctic Plain.

History

Named for scientific purposes (Carson and Hussey, 1962). This is probably the same lagoon that Lieutenant P. H. Ray (1885, p. 55) recorded as "Sinnyu," meaning "thong" or "shoestring."
