HistoryNamed for Charles D. Brower, who came to the Barrow area in 1886 as head of a whaling station. He later established a trading post. This locality is near the site of the U.S. Polar Station established by Lieutenant P. H. Ray in 1881 (Murdoch, 1892, p. 26), USA. See Barrow.
