About

Located at the southern point of entrance to Whitewater Bay, on Admiralty Island, 27 km (17 mi) south of Angoon, Alexander Archipelago.

History

Descriptive name given by Nichols and published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 157). So named because of its single dead tree.
