This name is a translation from the Russian published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "(Mys) Onasnoy", and first published in its present form by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1883 (chart 766).
