History

local name reported in 1910 Coast Pilot notes (p. 39). "Z(aliv) Seldevoy," meaning "herring bay," by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). "Chesloknu," was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1883.
