a translation of the descriptive name given by Father Veniaminov (1840, v. 1, p. 193). booming waves on this point sounded like a battery of guns. Kayanak." contradistinction to North Head. the name "Liberty Cap," undoubtedly suggested by Scotch Cap on Unimak Island.
