Extends along west bank of Caribou Creek, divided in the center by Fortress Creek, 87 mi NE of Anchorage, 47 mi. NE of Palmer, Talkeetna Mountains. 6.5 miles long.
Descriptive name give in 1956 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). So named because bold cliff is suggestive of fortress walls when viewed from the southeast.
