This stream was called "Cripple Creek," in 1913 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) on Chart T-3399. It was reported as "Jacksmith Creek" in 1919 by Harrington (in Brooks and others, 1921, map 7), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
