Mount Oratia rises above Kagati Lake, it has a C shape to it and in the middle is a smaller unnamed lake which empties into Kagati Lake. Glaciers were on the mountain as recent as the 1960s but would appear to be extinct now days. Fossils have been found on the mountain.Gyrfalcon can be found on the slopes of Mount Oratia.
