History

Eskimo name probably meaning "lake" shown on a 1898 fieldsheet by W. S. Post, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), whose party camped on its shore, September 10 of that year. The name was published as "Nenevokuk" by Spurr (1900, map 10), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
