Descriptive name translated in 1869 by George Davidson, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), from "G(ora) Chetyrekhglavaya," meaning literally "fourheaded mountain," published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). This may be the mountain called "Saint Dolmat" on a 1758 Russian manuscript map (Wagner, 1937, p. 493).
