History

Eskimo name transliterrated by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1886 from Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 22), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), who published the name as "O(strov) Kayukhpalik." the name as "Os(trov) Ukayukhpalyk" in 1847 on Chart 1378.
