Between Bering Glacier on the E and S, Steller Glacier on the W, and on the N, an unnamed icefield tributary, 42 mi. NW of Cape Yatataga, Chugach Mts.
Named in 1960 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for Sofron Khitrov who was a shipmaster and second in command as lieutenant and later captain under Vitus Bering on the Alaskan discovery voyage of the ship St. Peter in 1741.
