History of Hugh Smith Lake

Named in 1914 by E. Lester Jones, U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF), for Hugh McCormick Smith, 1865-1941, Commissioner, U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF). It was called "Quadra Lake" by Commander J. F. Moser, U.S. Navy (USN), in 1897.
