HistoryThe local name Fifth Berg Lake was reported in 1905 by G. C. Martin (1908, pl. 2), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and was originally applied to the easternmost of five Berg Lakes. With the retreat of the Steller and Bering Glaciers in recent times, Fourth Berg Lake and Fifth Berg Lakes were united to form Fifth Lake.
