History of Korovin Island

Name published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 24) as "O(strov) Korovinskoi" as shown on a Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart as "O(strov) Korovinskiy," pressumably for Ivan Korovin of the ship Sv. Troitzka (Holy Trinity), who explored the Aleutian Islands in 1762. The name means Cow.
