HistoryRussian name from the word "Otrubnyy" given by Sub-Lt. Mikhail Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), in 1839 or 1840, and published by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. in 1849 on Chart 1425. Baker (1906, p. 139), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), translates the name for this feature as "Bluff Cape."
