HistoryRussian family name given as "M(ys) Kostromitinov" by Sub-Lt. Mikhail Murashev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), in 1839 or 1840 and published by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. in 1849 on Chart 1425. The name "M(ys) Kazakovskiy" or "Cossack Cape," was applied to this point by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 23), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). See Cape Kazakof.
