HistoryNamed for triangulation station Lance which was established on this point by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1936. This point was reported as Lake Point by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1888, "because early charts showed a lake in the vicinity."
