Located 9 miles northwest of Makushin Bay, on the northwest coast of Unalaska Island, Aleutian Islands.
HistoryRussian name reported by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 14), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "M(ys) Gattan" or "Cape Gattan" and by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 26), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "M(ys) Kovrizhka," meaning "Cape Gingerbread (ginger cake)." This point was called "Makushin Cape" by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1888.
