HistoryNamed by Captain Cook, RN, in 1778 (v. 2, p. 382), "as the discovery of it was connected with the Princess Elizabeth's birthday, I named it Cape Elizabeth." It was published in 1826 by Lieutenant Sarichev (map 5), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "M(ys) Elisaveta" or "Cape Elizabeth."
