Local name reported in 1903 by T. G. Gerdine (in Prindle, 1905, pl. 13), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The name was previously reported as "Mammoth House" in 1896 by Spurr (1898, pl. 50), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
