Historysmall Tanana Indian village reported in 1899 by Lieutenant J. S. Herron, USA, who wrote the name "Cos-chaget," meaning "the mouth of the Cos (River)." established here, or near here, in 1903, in 1903 by the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
