Getting There

Right at 39 miles up the Elliot Highway. East (Upper) Grapefruit Rocks will be first, a small turn off down to the right at the end of the guardrail. West (Lower) Grapefruit Rocks is as the highway begins to turn right. There is a large turn off the left.

Grapefruit Rocks is a nice set of rocks outside Fairbanks. If you're just starting out in rock climbing, Grapefruit Rocks are an excellent place to begin. Experts as well as beginners enjoy these naturally formed walls that are both fun and challenging. Grapefruit Rocks is a nice place to climb causally bring your friends, new to climbing, just getting out of town and be on real rock. Most of the routes have nice views of Globe Creek Valley.

Grapefruit Rocks is out in the wilderness of Alaska. There may be mosquitos. We've counted 15 in 6 sq inches. The mosquito repellant fans do an excellent job of keeping them away allow for pleasant pest free climbing.
